Talk To Tom has invested in a drone to assist in the search for missing people who are feared to have taken their own life in remote locations or in a source of water.

The drone, from the DJI Mavic Range, will allow the group to assists families in the search for their missing loved ones.

Talk To Tom CEO Ray Cullen said the group has been asked to assist in a number of searches.

He added that the total investment of €1450, which was paid for by fundraising efforts, would be money well spent, if it helped just one family bring their loved one home sooner.

"We have been asked to help in a number of searches over the years and it is always a heartbreaking time for all involved," said Ray.

"With this device we will be able to assist search teams covering large areas such as farm land and fields, remote beaches and along riverbeds and banks.

"In the past we have seen searches which have lasted into days and in some instances even weeks.  It's our hope that this will help search teams cover more ground,  in a much quicker time frame."

The drone, has an 8km range and can be flown for 31 minutes on a single charge.

It also has a zoom camera for better vision.
